Roofers in Northiam
Just over the county line in East Sussex, Northiam is closer to us than many Kent villages.
Roofing in Northiam
Northiam is across the River Rother from Rolvenden and Wittersham, technically in East Sussex but only a short drive from Tenterden. We treat it as part of our local patch, the same as the Kent villages around us.
The village runs along a long main street lined with white weatherboarded and tile-hung houses, with farms and larger houses on the slopes around it. The style of building is very close to what we see on the Kent side of the border.
Weatherboarded and tile-hung cottages under clay tiles dominate the main street, with Georgian and Victorian brick houses and some later development. Many properties are on sloping ground, which affects scaffolding and ladder access.
Local knowledge
Working in Northiam
01
Weatherboard and roof edges
Where weatherboarding meets the eaves, water can get behind the boards if gutters overflow. We look at the junction, not just the roof.
02
Sloping plots
Uneven ground needs the right scaffold design. We plan access properly before any work starts.
03
Chimney leadwork
Older stacks often have tired lead soakers and flashings. Replacing them stops many slow, hard-to-find leaks.
