Timber-framed Kent farmhouse with new hand-made clay tile roof

Roofing

Everything your roof needs.

Roofing is what we've done for over forty years and it's the heart of the business. From a single slipped tile to a complete re-roof in Kent peg tiles, the standard is the same: done properly, so it lasts.

Active leak right now?

Don't wait for a web form. Call our direct line for immediate advice on limiting the damage, and we'll tell you how soon we can get to you.

What you can expect from us

Free in-person inspection

We come out and look at the work properly before we advise on anything. There's no charge for that and no obligation afterwards.

A clear written quotation

Everything we suggest is set out on paper, the work, the materials and the timescale, so there are no surprises later.

Workmanship guarantee

New roofs and leadwork carry a workmanship guarantee. If something isn't right, we come back and put it right.

Family-run and insured

You deal with the family, not a call centre. We carry public liability insurance and trade roots documented back to 1984.

Why it matters

Roofs around here aren't all the same.

Hand-made peg tiles on timber frames. Victorian slate. Inter-war clay. Modern concrete and GRP. Each one sits differently, fails differently and needs a different hand, which is why forty years of local experience counts.
  1. 01

    Forty-odd years in the trade

We started when many of today's roofing products didn't exist. We've watched materials come and go and kept what works.

  2. 02

    Family-run

You'll deal with the people whose name is on the van, from the first visit to the last tile. Knowledge here has been passed down, not read off a training slide.

  3. 03

    Local knowledge

We know the buildings around Tenterden, Biddenden and Rolvenden, what they're made of, how they fail, and what they need.

  4. 04

    Traditional skills, modern materials

Hand-dressed lead and peg tiles on one job; GRP and breathable membranes on the next. We use what's right for the roof.

  5. 05

    Honest advice

If a repair will do, we'll say so. If the roof has had its day, we'll show you why. No pressure either way.

  6. 06

    Properly surveyed

We look before we quote, on the roof, in the loft, and we put what we find in writing.

  7. 07

    Work that lasts

Some of the roofs we worked on decades ago are still keeping Kent homes dry. That's the standard we still work to.

  8. 08

    Respect for your property

Tidy sites, protected gardens, and everything cleared away when we leave.

From the archive

Matching new roofing to existing properties.

Long before today's roofing systems, our project records were already documenting the importance of matching new roof coverings to existing homes. One archive project, a 9m × 4m attached garage, porch and utility room, records roofing tiles chosen to match those already on the house; another records tiled roofs to a detached garage and bay window and a Dutch Barn roof over a 10m × 4m extension. Materials and methods have moved on since; the thinking hasn't.

Commercial experience, from the original archive

Not only homes.

Our archive also records work at industrial premises in Croydon: roofing and general maintenance, blockwork, drainage and alterations, with the company retained on call for ongoing maintenance of the working areas. If you look after a commercial or agricultural building around Tenterden, we're happy to take a look.
