About this work

An extension roof has to do two things: keep the new room dry, and look as though it belongs to the house. The junction between new roof and existing wall is the critical detail, it needs proper lead abutment flashings, correctly formed and dressed, not sealant.

We build extension roofs for homeowners directly and alongside local builders, in whatever form suits the project: pitched and tiled, flat GRP or EPDM, or a combination.

Our approach

How we go about it.

  1. 01

    Plan the junction

Before anything else we work out how the new roof will meet the existing building and how that junction will be flashed.

  2. 02

    Build the structure

Rafters or joists, wall plates and ties, to the engineer's or building control requirements.

  3. 03

    Cover and flash

Tiles or membrane laid, then lead flashings cut into the existing wall and dressed properly.

  4. 04

    Complete the finish

Fascias, soffits, guttering and rooflights fitted so the roof is finished in one visit.

Why experience matters

Old walls are rarely straight or plumb. Knowing how to flash a new roof into a 300-year-old brick wall so it stays dry is something we've done many times around here.

Extension roofs across Tenterden, Biddenden, Rolvenden, Cranbrook, Benenden and the wider Weald.

From the trade

Questions we're often asked

Can you fit Velux-style rooflights?

Yes. We install rooflights into new and existing pitched roofs, and flat-roof rooflights and lanterns.

Do you build the whole extension?

Our focus is the roof. We're happy to work with your builder, and for smaller projects we can sometimes carry out the brickwork too, ask us.
